Hello! My name is
Stella Anderle

I am

  • an artiste,
  • graphic designer
  • specializing in surface pattern design,
  • illustrator and
  • art teacher

I live in Ontario, Canada. My little city, St Thomas, is a few minutes away from the lake Erie, in an area where woods and lake views make me feel as in the very hug of nature.

I consider my artwork as a creative garden, a small retreat of happiness for myself and for others.

My Story

Born in Varna, on the shore of the Black Sea, I have grown in the colourful Bulgarian traditions and have been early influenced by my grand-mother passionate in sewing, knitting and flourishing our garden. O, how I loved her big old wardrobe crowded with fabrics of all kind!

Then, I moved to France where I lived for 20 years and enjoyed France’s unique, soft and yet powerful, landscapes, lavender fields, vibrant traditions and refined artistic culture. In France I have completed my artistic education and studies: three years in a School for Illustration, one year in the School of Arts of the University of Sorbonne (Paris), and one year of Graphic Design training, in addition to a Master degree in Music Education and Music conservatory studies. Then, I started teaching and sharing my artistic passion with students of all ages.

Curiously, I tripped over surface pattern design only after my general artistic training and started specializing in this domain, while teaching others different artistic techniques in my art studio and at school.

After getting married I moved to Canada, where I presently live with my husband and talented musician and composer, Martin Anderle. Both of us we are in awe of the Canadian lakes and forests, and overflow with passion and enthusiasm for our artistic and creative activities. Martin and me, we love also working on common projects, combining art and music.

My Sources of Inspiration

Nature

Nature is my primary source of inspiration. And, just as nature does, I love playing with lines, shapes, colors and textures to bring more beauty and harmony in the world.

Music

Music, as much as drawing and painting, has always been part of my life since my very early childhood and has influenced my artistic creativity. I play several musical instruments, but my favorite and most inspiring is the harp.

Nowadays, I like to create an illustration or a pattern design as I compose a music: with motifs like melodies combining harmoniously, with textures and colours playing together as an orchestra, with rythme and flow touching our hearts. Creating a pattern collection is so similar to creating a symphony.

Meditation

Meditation helps me to stay connected with who I am and with my original inner creativity. Meditation inspires me from the inner.

Traveling

At last, but not least, traveling is another source of inspiration that finds reflection into my art. I love discover and photograph new places, people and cultures, then pump inspiration for my illustrations and pattern collections.
